What did I do in the First 7 Days to grow my blog?
- Write 4-5 Blog Posts. Since I barely had any posts at all – I wanted to get more of the evergreen content out so that I can focus on seasonal content after the next couple of months. All 5 Blog posts written were of evergreen type.
- Set up Site Kit. Tracking correct metrics is super important, especially when there is discrepancy from the numbers in Pinterest to the ones coming to the website. Pinterest counts my own clicks and impressions so the data is slightly skewed since I was checking if my pins were looking good as a user and if they were redirecting to my blog properly or not. Google Site Kit will only count users and sessions that were not from my own device as long as I’m logged in to WordPress.
- Created and Scheduled 3-5 Pins each day. I wanted to slowly increase the number of pins each day instead of spamming on individual days. So an absolute NO to pinning 0 Pins for 3 days and then 7-8 Pins on one day, then back to zero for the rest. This also helps in getting used to pinning consistently.
- Add a Cache Plugin. Adding a lot of images to the site will increase the loading time and thus more users will bounce from the website. Installed LiteSpeed Cache plugin for this to convert images to webP to reduce the image load on the server for better loading time and less user bounce rate.
- Applied for Amazon Associates. My blog posts have plenty of products that can be linked to amazon, so getting started on affiliate marketing would be the next step.
Plans for the Next 7 Days
- Write 4-5 Blog Posts. I had written evergreen content this week so next week I’m planning to write seasonal content to balance.
- Create and Schedule 5 Pins each day. Consistently pin each day at the various timings to check for the best timings. Also, to see if it even matters.
- Create a couple of Pin templates. that are best suited to my content and also which is user friendly.
